Unlit Branches — A Poem

All the unlit branches of many a tree
boiled up from the oceans under old Galilee
and all the inverse towers
of all the haughty kings
were broken on the backs
of the ancient angels’ rings
The songs of revelation soared up high past all the stars
past the zenith
past the nadir
past the broken gates ajar

Ripples reached the non-ears of the bleak one in the depths
tickling rekindled what was stolen by bright breadth
So the glories of the new dawn
on the altar of all things
became the pyre for ascension
for the unborn scar-stung wings
dreaming of a far-flung future
strangled by an aeon’s aeons past
turning all the unlit branches
into shadows never cast
